  • How to get your own domain name (e.g., www.mynonprofit.org).
  • Free and low-cost options for designing and hosting your website.
  • Recommendations regarding what information should be available on your website.
  • An overview of tools you can use to manage email lists that drive traffic to your site.
  • How to set up your website to accept donations in less than an hour.

Join us to learn how new tools can make your life simple.  You’ll learn how Sharepoint can serve as a central, web-accessible place for your documents and project resources. You’ll also learn about free and low-cost online tools that let you share calendars, documents, as well as simplify meeting scheduling, and more!  (Intended for non-technical staff involved in projects that require working with people at a variety of locations.)

Nonprofit Good Practice Guide

The Nonprofit Good Practice Guide, funded by a grant form the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, is part of the Philanthropic and Nonprofit Knowledge Management Initiative at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University . 

The Philanthropic and Nonprofit Knowledge Management Initiative seeks to capture, organize, disseminate, and promote the use of good practices in the nonprofit sector.  The Nonprofit Good Practice Guide, www.nonprofitbasics.com, is a project of this initiative that provides Preferred Practices and Pitfalls, Glossaries, Resources and Web Site Profiles and Links.  The Guide, with nine topic area, is a learning tool that offers answers to virtually any question about managing nonprofits.  Hand-on tips, articles and other resources lead nonprofit managers to information that can be quickly and directly applied to their organizations.
