Some nonprofits need more than 1 - 3 hours of technical assistance to accomplish what they are seeking. Some examples of consulting projects include: strategic planning developing evaluation tools board recruitment and development board training developing a human resources manual or policies organizational assessment financial accounting assistance At the Jackson Nonprofit Support Center, nonprofits in need of consulting services are carefully matched with an appropriate consultant to meet their unique needs. The Center has more than 100 community partners (consultants and trainers) who will work with the client to develop a work plan and time line and carry out the objectives to improve the organization's management and service delivery. All consulting relationships are confidential. Consultants are required to meet rigorous quality standards, have a confidentiality policy, and sign a code of ethics. The Center's consulting fees are $50 per hour, substantially discounted from typical consulting fees now running between $500 - $1,000 per day. The Center also offers scholarships to those nonprofits in need. Local foundations are also very supportive of nonprofits seeking consulting services and will consider proposals (without deadline) to fund specific consulting projects to improve nonprofit management and service delivery.
